Eighteen miles of the beautiful Florida Scenic Trail pass through the Econfina Creek Water Management Area.

Marked by signage featuring orange blazes, the trail follows Econfina Creek and is maintained by volunteers from the Panhandle Chapter of the Florida Trail Association.

Camping is available at the hike-in campsites.

According to the Florida Trail Association, the Econfina Section of the trail is considered by many hikers as the “most beautiful in the entire state of Florida.” This section of the trail takes hikers through “rugged ravines” and “tunnels of mountain laurel and wild azalea.”

The Florida Trail Association likens this stretch of the trail to a walk in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains.

The trail also features two 60-foot suspension bridges called Fender Bridge and Two Penny Bridge.
